An actress and a jewelry designer, Nicole Paggi has an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for expressing her creativity. While working on acting jobs, Nicole’s passion for jewelry was born as she began collecting gemstones and making jewelry in her dressing room. In 2011, she launched the jewelry line, Naomi Gray Designs, inspired by love and named after her paternal grandmother who has always been an inspiration, and she hopes that people are inspired by the meaningful pieces she creates.
1. How would you describe your own personal style?
I would describe my style as pretty simple and classic, with a splash of fun or funkiness. As I’ve gotten older, I gravitate towards timeless clothes that I can always change up the look by expressing myself through my accessories and high, high heels.
2. What is the best style tip you’ve learned from working on movie and television sets?
Through working with talented wardrobe stylists on sets, I learned how much impact wardrobe and accessories have on the way you feel, and truly expresses who you are. When I come out of wardrobe and makeup, I feel transformed into whatever character I am playing. I learned that anything goes, to trust your instincts, and to have fun. It’s an opportunity to be creative everyday!
3. What trends are you looking forward to in 2012?
I’m loving the rings on every finger trend. I’m thinking my word rings would be amazing on each finger. Normally I stack the “love,” “dream,” and “believe” on one finger, but putting them on different fingers is a fun idea.
4. We love how easy it is to layer pieces from Naomi Gray Designs. What is your favorite combination?
I love wearing a tiny diamond charm, like the clover or heart, layered with a slightly longer initials or birthstones piece (with mine and my husband’s initials or birthstones), and a long hammered chain, or the big crystal quartz. I also love stacking a ton of the hammered and ball rings on one finger, and then the “love,” “dream,” and “believe” rings on another. That’s pretty much my go-to everyday.
5. What’s next for Naomi Gray Designs?
I’m really excited to expand the line with an edgier, ironic twist to Naomi Gray. I love all the sweet, meaningful pieces in the line and will continue to design more, but the juxtaposition of those pieces with some funkier, chunkier pieces, rounds out the line and is a good expression of who I am. I am excited to work with more colored stones and different materials.
6. This Valentine’s Day, the gift you’d like to receive is:
The perfect Valentine’s gift is a day with my husband from start to finish – making a yummy breakfast, going for a hike with our dogs, getting a massage, playing backgammon and having a glass of prosecco on our deck during sunset, and then going to a fabulous dinner at Osteria Mozza. I have so much fun with him.
7. Are there any Naomi Gray Designs pieces that are especially sentimental to you?
I love the pieces that remind me of the special things in my life, or give me that extra little inspiration in a day. The word pieces remind me to believe in myself and my dreams, and the love reminds me of how thankful I am to have all of the love in my life, and the initials symbolize my wonderful marriage. It just makes me happy to have such personal pieces that I get to wear everyday.
8. Do you have a favorite customer purchase story?
A guy was looking for a special piece for his AA sponsor who made such an impact on his life, and he bought her the My Little Angel Wing Necklace with her birthstone for his sober anniversary. That meant so much to me because that is the exact reason why I have created the pieces that I have in the line so far. I love that my jewelry can help express something so inspiring or special to someone. And, I love that the birthstone and initial necklaces are given as a celebration of a birth of a child or a marriage.
9. If you could choose three charms to represent the best moments in your life, what would they be?
My “N” and “D” charms represent my husband and I, and meeting him was certainly one of the top moments of my life. The “dream” and “believe” rings remind me of constantly believing in my dreams and that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. That reminds me of how I moved out here (L.A.) from Texas to follow my dreams of being an actress and jewelry designer and the birthstone charms represent when I was born, and of others who I love.

All of them! They all are pieces that I can attach a special meaning to, and they are fun to mix and match, depending on the mood or the day.
