Moses Baskets: A New Mummy Must-Have

Samantha Winch is one of the founders of Petit Tresor and mother of twins. Here she shares her favorite baby products and tips.

Moses Baskets are perhaps the most overlooked yet useful item that can be purchased for a newborn. There are so many ways a Moses Basket can be helpful yet most people do not realise just how versatile it can be. Admittedly, I never purchased a Moses basket for my newborns but after ten years at Petit Tresor, and all the wonderful reviews I have heard from new mothers, I now wish I had!

Moses baskets are first and formost a nice, clean portable sleeping area for your baby. Not only can you keep your newborn close to you where ever you are without disturbing his slumbers, but you can take them to friends or relatives homes and in the process allow your baby to remain comfortable in his surroundings. It can also be made into a bassinette with the use of a universal Moses basket stand like these.

A Moses basket is also an efficient way to carry a sleeping baby up and down stairs without disturbing him. Aswell as a bed, Moses baskets serve as excellent transportation for newborns and helps them remain secure andsnug. With the same idea of security in mind, many parents use Moses baskets when they want their newborn to sleep in the communal bed. It is a way to ensure that the baby remains safe and that no one bumps into or hurts him.

The uses are numerous…and when your baby outgrows Moses baskets, many mothers use the baskets as storage facilities for toys, stuffed animals and even clothes!

If I had it to do all over again, I would certainly use a Moses basket and would urge all of you to do the same!

Beginnings & Ends

Here is the first post in our new regular series from Petit Tresor co-founder Samantha Winch.
Samantha will be sharing product recommendations, tips for parents of multiples, exciting Petit Tresor news and much more. We hope you enjoy!

It was an all too common scene for us. We were standing outside an empty space as movers were carrying our belongings back and forth. I remember helping Nina pack her childhood belongings as a teenager when she was off to college in San Diego. A few years later she returned the favor as she practically had to drag me out of my family home so we could rent an apartment as young adults. There would be many significant beginnings and ends to follow, each dramatic and monumental in its own right but a couple more do stick out in my memory. I can vividly recall Nina taking the boxes I painstakingly filled with my ex-husbands’ belongings and driving them over to his parents’ home where she dumped them on the doorstep for me. Nina’s departure from her marriage was not less dramatic…

So many ends and beginnings…perhaps most significantly however, was when we moved into our first location for Petit Tresor on Robertson blvd. Neither of us knew what to expect as we embarked upon starting our own business as young women with small children. Nor did either of us know that this business which we had started as a fun pass time would become our passion, our joy and our lifeline when the world was not too kind to us. We didn’t know that the begining of Petit Tresor marked the end of many thing for us too. Perhaps if we could predict the upheavals and stress that come from change we would refrain from it even more that we already do. That would be a pity because sometimes from the most dramatic change do we learn the most valuable lessons and reap the most significant rewards.

While it is with heavy hearts that we left our last location of ten years, it is with much excitement and joy that we start this second phase of our business. When we opened ten years ago, it was Nina and me..that is all. As we moved to our new location at 501 N. Robertson, Nina and I were no longer alone. We have been lucky enough to find the most dedicated kind hearted staff who are now all part of the Petit Tresor family. Seven of us are housed in the new location which serves not only as a boutique but also as our fulfillment centre. We are able to work more efficient ly and in greater harmony as now everyone feels more a part of the team. We are also excited because our business has grown in many different directions. We are lucky to have licensing deals and projects which keep us all busy and which we are now much better equipped to manage in one headquarter. Most exciting however is the feeling you get when you walk through our doors. You can feel the love that was put into each step of the retail experience. From choosing the most beautiful and useful items, to arranging them in such a way that you can not help but feel the charm of this new home. We look forward to seeing you all here as we welcome you too, into our new home!
